Transforming Anger: The HeartMath Solution for Letting Go of Rage, Frustration and Irritation.
by Doc Childre and Deborah Rozman, Ph.D.

If you are dealing with anger you can't quite seem to manage, this book can give you hope, as well as practical tools to successfully handle this emotion. You'll learn that the heart provides a unique access point from which anyone can regulate many of their reaction patterns. The heart is so powerful - generating sixty times the electrical amplitude of the brain - that it can draw your brain, nervous system, and emotions into its coherent rhythms and unlock more of your own innate intelligence.

The purpose of this book is to help you:
  • better understand how and why anger occurs in your daily life
  • understand how your body triggers anger and responds to anger
  • learn and use fast-acting tools and techniques to get in sync and release anger
  • find and act on new solutions for situations involving anger

Adults with a long history of anger, children who are easily frustrated, teenagers with shifting emotional moods and raging hormones - all have used the power of the heart to change their feelings and their perceptions right in the middle of an angry reaction.

Managing your anger with the HeartMath techniques doesn't mean leaving yourself open to getting walked on. You don't become naive or cave in to others demands. You become clear and centered, and see what's best for you and others. You start to see life not in an overly idealistic way but in a realistic and hopeful way.

Paperback, 128 pages.

5 out of 5 stars Thank You SO MUCH 00/00/0000

I have experienced anger all my life as a protection mechanism after having a difficult childhood. A month ago, I lost my temper during a fight, and I hit my wife. I went to jail and she is divorcing me. After years of counseling and different medicines, I was at the point of giving up. I found it this book in a bookstore a few weeks ago, and I have read it 3 times now. Not only have I not lost my temper one time since starting the book, but my entire spirit has changed. Even during one of the most difficult times in my life, I finally feel I have the tools to control myself. I only wish I could have found the book sooner. While I have read countless books, I can honestly say that none has helped me to better recognize my problem, and this is the only book that has provided a real solution that works.

5 out of 5 stars The Last Stop 00/00/0000
Reviewer: A viewer from Los Angeles, CA
I came to the end of my known universe; I lost hope, I had no more solutions. I had never heard in all my heart-felt attempts at health and well being that hope is critical to sustaining human life. Well, there it is - I have to have hope or die. My attempt to die failed and I ended up in a truly outstanding and hopeful program in the hospital. While being supported by a panel of compassionate and wonderful doctors and staff, I bought this book in an attempt to understand my anger. I read; I tried the techniques. I was astonished to discover that my intense anger was holding down even more intense grief, loss and emotional pain. Odd to realize that anger is a protective mechanism; that my anger may have actually protected me from pain that was simply too overwhelming for me to experience. So, I do have to insert a qualified warning here. I don't think I would have been capable of experiencing the depth of my anguish had I not had the support and care of the doctors at the hospital. When you start to breathe compassion through your heart, you may experience the pain that your anger was protecting you from. Make sure you have some support in place in case that happens. This technique was/is key to my recovery from a devastating loss of hope.
